We don't need The Machine to know that Person of Interest will be around for awhile.
Paul Guilfoyle is leaving CSI.
In news broken by The Hollywood Reporter, the actor behind Captain Jim Brass will exit the long-running drama at the conclusion of Season 14, which wraps up on May 7.
"Paul made Capt. Brass a standout character," producers Carol Mendelsohn and Don McGill said in a statement, adding;
"He is not just an original cast member, he is an original. In a show about forensics, fans always looked forward to the handcuffs coming out, and Capt. Brass putting his spin on the crime of the week, just as Paul Guilfoyle put his indelible stamp on the character and the show. He will be missed."
Other original cast members that have departed the series include William Petersen, Gary Dourdan and Marg Helgenberger.
Guilfoyle's departure means George Eads is the only original remaining.

Double the Mark-Paul Gosselaar is coming to CBS.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Franklin & Bash (and Saved by the Bell!) star has landed a unique guest-starring role on CSI Season 15:
He’ll come on board the long-time drama in the role of twins, one of whom is an unrepentant murderer set to be executed for his crimes… and the other a real estate magnate who believes his sibling his innocent.
New episodes of CSI kick off on CBS on Sunday, September 28.
Mark Valley is on his way to Sin City.
The veteran actor (Human Target, Fringe, Harry's Law) will appear on multiple episodes of CSI Season 15, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Look for him to come on board as an ex-detective who now works as a private investigator.
When Valley’s partner goes missing, he’ll team up with with Elisabeth Shue’s Finlay for the case, with the two getting along very well professionally AND personally... if you know what we mean.
CSI shifts to Sunday nights at 10 p.m. and premieres on September 28 this year, while CSI: Cyber (starring Patricia Arquette) is expected to debut in early 2015.
Will CSI ever be the same?
George Eads, who has played Nick Stokes since the series' pilot will exit his role at the end of CSI Season 15.
Eads took a leave of absence in 2013 after an argument with one of the writers on the creative direction of his character.
In 2004 Eads and then co-star Jorja Fox were both fired briefly after a salary dispute.
Although neither CBS nor Eads has made an official statement, TV Guide learned Ead's departure will coincide with the conclusion of the Gig Harbor killer case There are no other details available about how Stokes will be written out.
CSI recently had its episode order cut in order to launch the newest member of the franchise, CSI: Cyber, starring Patricia Arquette and Luke Perry. The new series will inhabit CSI's current Sunday 10/9 p.m. time slot
There's no need to cry in your coffee, you can watch CSI online via TV Fanatic to see more of Eads.
CSI is set to say goodbye to one of its own.
According to a new report in TV Guide, the long-running CBS drama will kill off a cast member (via the Gig Harbor Killer) on the Season 15 finale in May.
The cast member in question has been a part of the series since Season 1.
Moreover, this same serial killer case will place the life of another CSI team member in serious jeopardy, with her or her fate up in the air at the moment.
Who will be departing the drama?
Before you take your best guess, consider: although George Eads will exit the show after this season, TV Guide states that neither of the aforementioned characters in question is Eads' Nick Stokes.
(Conversely, Stokes will receive an emotional send-off that leaves the possibility of a return at some point in the future.)
Patricia Arquette just won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
However, in case that isn't enough of a promotion for CSI: Cyber - on which Arquette will star as the leader of a team who investigates international computer crime - CBS is hoping to break a Guinness Book of World Record on March 4.
Aiming to achieve Largest Ever TV Drama Simulcast, the network will air the CSI episode “Kitty” in more than 150 countries at 7 p.m. EST that Wednesday.
The April 2014 installment served as a backdoor pilot for CSI: Cyber.
It will also be streamed in the U.S. on CBS.com from 4 p.m. PT to midnight.
When CSI premiered, I had no idea it would become the sensational global franchise it is today,” said creator Anthony Zuiker, who will also serve as executive producer of CSI: Cyber.
"CSI has taken on Las Vegas, Miami, New York and now, with CSI: Cyber, we dive into the vast world of cyber crime, where we can instantly be connected to anyone, anywhere in the world at any time. I can’t think of a better way to kick off CSI: Cyber and celebrate 15 years of international success than with a worldwide simulcast."
The ongoing record for the largest TV drama simulcast was set by the 50th anniversary episode of “Doctor Who,” which aired in 98 countries across six continents in November 2013.
CSI: Cyber Season 1 Episode 1 will premiere on Wednesday, March 4 at 10/9c.
Losing a main character under any circumstances is always a distressing time for a TV Fanatic.
This is especially true for many at the moment, as Nina Dobrev is leaving Mystic Falls behind – but she certainly isn't the first lead to depart a successful show.
A lot of the time when a key star says goodbye to their series, they are killed off, but not always. A classic heartfelt farewell can be sometimes be just as satisfying and/or sentimental.
Below, we've collected 19 photos from 19 shows that bid farewell forever to a fan favorite. Which did the best job of carrying on without him or her?
We know how upset you were when you had to say goodbye to not one, but two residents of one Tree Hill, but the show continued on for three more successful seasons. Sometimes characters leave because they have run their course and fresh new additions can make things exciting again.

CBS has unveiled its new fall schedule and, as you can see, it does not include CSI.
The series has been canceled after a very impressive 15-year run.
But the network confirmed today that the drama will wrap up with a special movie event on Sunday, September 27.
It will include original cast members such as William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger, who are among the alums set to reprise their beloved roles for this farewell.
CSI, which ended its latest run with a still-strong 8 million viewers, roared out of the gate in 2000.
It averaged 20 million viewers by the end of Season 1, ranking among TV’s top 10 most popular shows and peaking during Season 5 with 26 million viewers.
It also launched the spinoffs CSI: Miami, CSI: NY and, most recently, the just-renewed CSI: Cyber, which will air on Sunday evenings this fall.
Gil Grissom is back, folks.
CBS has unveiled the first promo for its upcoming, two-hour series finale of CSI, which will bring back not just William Peterson as Grissom, but Marg Helgenberger and Melinda Clarke as well.
It looks like we’ll also learn more about Grissom’s relationship with Jorja Fox’s Sara Sidle, who is asked at one point whether or not she loves him.
Who doesn't, right?!?
This special CSI event will air on Sunday, September 27.
The weather may be turning colder, but the action is about to pick up in living rooms across America.
That's right, it's nearly fall TV season!!!

It was truly the end of an era as CSI Season 16 Episode 2 closed out a series that changed the way America viewed the criminal justice system.
Before CSI, who even knew there was such a thing as a criminalist? Now talk of forensic evidence in criminal cases is more than common place, it’s expected. This show single-handedly changed what we expect from our justice system while entertaining us for the last 15 years.
It’s a show that deserved to be given a final season to wrap up, even an abbreviated season. Instead it was only given a two-hour movie which left me feeling unsatisfied but I suppose I shouldn’t complain…Law & Order didn’t even get that much after 20 seasons on the air.
The finale brought back some fan favorites including Gil Grissom, Catherine Willows, Jim Brass, and Lady Heather but in doing so it relegated some of our newer favorites to the back burner. The most glaring in that category were D.B. Russell who I’d come to greatly enjoy over the past few seasons and Julie Finlay whose death was only dealt with by the showing of a memorial plaque. Talk about an anticlimactic end, given her final scene last season.
The story surrounded suicide bombers, the first of which blew up part of Catherine’s casino which is what brought her back to Vegas. Catherine was always one of my favorite characters so I was thrilled to see her and I picked out the new CSI as her daughter Lindsey immediately, even if Grissom did not.
The questions began almost as soon as the bomb went off. Why was the explosion so small when the bomber could have taken out the entire casino and why target a woman who had young children?
I thought it was a little far fetched that the initials LHK automatically led them back to Lady Heather but with only two hours, I suppose the plot had to be moved along quickly.
Grissom, known as the Lady Heather expert, was called in from San Diego to help. Apparently he and Sara hadn’t spoken since their divorce which made for an awkward reunion and Lady Heather’s appearance only made things worse. I couldn’t really blame Sara for being on edge. She had to be questioning why her ex-husband knew one of Lady Heather’s Gold Keys for special members on sight and why he was defending the woman so ardently when the evidence was saying she was guilty.
Evidence was always Gill Grissom’s religion. Somehow with Lady Heather, that changed.
I was thankful that the teacher didn’t trigger her bomb in front of a stage full of young children. If she had, I may have changed the channel right then. Still, I felt horrible for the bomb tech although I couldn’t believe he hesitated from snipping those wires.
The Devil’s Breath was a unique twist. Is there really such a flower? If there is, I may never smell flowers again.
The suitcase had the entire team running for cover but it wasn’t a bomb, just the body of the man who had killed Lady Heather’s daughter. It all led to a video of the man behind the bombings.
I loved D.B. Russell’s absolute glee at being able to decipher an ear from the graphic swirl and his eventual ability to detect a finger print. Grissom and Sara’s bee hunt was almost too complicated to follow but I think the real point behind it all, other than finding their mad bomber, was to have Gil watch Sara longingly in her bee gear.
Catherine, Greg, and Morgan tracked down the bombs in the garage and there were two things I loved about that scene. First that Catherine asked her late father, Sam to help her choose between black or red and second, that Morgan practically had a breakdown at having to cut the wire. I think most of us would be a terrified mess if we were in her position so it was nice to see at least one character not facing death stoically.
Grissom’s lonely whale story was heartbreakingly sad but having him pull the clip on the unactivated vest felt anticlimactic.
Grissom has always been a bit of an odd duck but never more so than in this episode, or has it just been that long since I've watched Gill Grissom; I'm really not sure. From his lame jumping the shark joke to having him utter the line, “Who are you?” many of his interactions felt forced. The only time he really perked up was when there were bees to follow.
In the end, there were many characters I wish we’d had more time with and lots of questions left without answers. Do Hodges and Morgan ever become more than just friends? We barely saw any of Greg and we have no idea where Russell is headed other than some new opportunity on the east coast. That’s pretty vague. So many plot points from last season were simply left dangling.
Grissom’s final conversation with Lady Heather about Sara in this CSI quote was as close as he got to anything personal…
She restores my faith in the human being plus she helped me with my crossword puzzles. She's been my best friend. I'll miss her for the rest of my life.
Grissom
Those few sentences had Sara leaving the Director position and running off to San Diego to sail off with Gil. It was a scene I would have found much more satisfying if the two had had a real conversation about their feelings or why their marriage ended. Since neither of those happened, their reunion felt a bit empty.
Catherine’s story made the most sense. She’ll take the Director’s position now that Sara has bailed. She can be near her daughter, will apparently help care for the two girls orphaned when their mother was killed in that explosion and run her father’s casino. Las Vegas has always been her home. It’s good to see her back.
